Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement


This qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment

To be awarded the NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People’s Workforce, learners must cover 3 units:

Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment – requires you to know and understand the principles and practices that underpin assessment. You will need to write a reflective account demonstrating your knowledge and understanding and complete a workbook that shows your research into assessment practice and associated legal requirements.

Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment – is to assess your performance in assessing occupational competence in an individual’s work environment. Observation of your practice in the workplace by your assessor is an essential assessment component of this qualification along with assessment of work products and evidence of questioning your learners.

Additional assessment methods that may be used could include witness testimonies and statements from learners.

Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding – is to assess your performance in assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace. This could be in workshops, classrooms or other training environments. You will need to provide evidence for at least three of the following assessment methods:

  • Simulations
  • Skills tests
  • Oral and written questioning
  • Assignments
  • Projects
  • Case studies
  • Recognising prior learning

You will be assessed for this unit by observation of your assessment practice, examination of related work products, questioning and discussion.

You will need to show evidence of carrying out two assessments of two different learner’s skills, knowledge and understanding.

This course is 2 full Saturdays classroom based. The remainder of the course you will liaise directly with your tutor and online but will not be required to attend any additional classroom session.

You however must have 2 learners you can assess .

Although there are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking these qualifications, delegates must be vocationally competent in the role they would like to assess and will need access to 2 learners in a suitable assessment environment.

• Certificate in Leading the IQA of Assessment Processes and Practice

Blended – Workplace Assessments (Paid/Voluntary Work Placement Required), Online and Tutor Support

Portfolio of evidence gathered from a range of sources including professional discussion; written work; you will be observed by your assessor as you carry out feedback and planning.

You would need to pay £650.00 or pay instalments of a deposit of £250 and then 4 monthly payments of £100
